As part of the TC Inland Winds research project, an objective verification of sustained wind speed forecasts has been conducted for recent tropical cyclones affecting the region. These storms include Ernesto (2006), Gabrielle (2007), Cristobal (2008), Hanna (2008), Earl (2010), and Irene (2011). The verification was conducted using H*Wind surface wind speed analyses and comparing the analyses to data from the National Digital Forecast Database (NDFD). Various plots have been created to display the verification and are posted at: www4.ncsu.edu/~bptyner/. Please use the questionnaire as a guide to providing your perspectives and interpretations of this verification. Feel free to include as many or as few responses to the questions as you wish.
In order to incorporate comments into a final report, please submit the responses to the survey by Friday, November 2nd, 2012. We look forward for your comments and appreciate your participation in advance!
